To ensure your Helix mattress performs its best, a proper support system is highly recommended. While our Helix Foundation is the perfect choice for providing ideal support and preventing sagging, you have other great options too!
If you choose a different base, we recommend a solid, flat surface or a support system with firm, thick slats that are no more than 5.5 inches apart. Using slats that are too far apart can lead to sagging and may even void your warranty. Please note that traditional box springs typically don't provide the right kind of support for our mattresses.
For an existing base with wider gaps (over 4-5 inches), a simple and effective solution is to add a piece of plywood (sometimes called a bunkie board) to create a firm, flat surface.
